Taste Essay- The Worst
The Worst Taste of All Tastes
What taste makes you cringe at the thought of it, wrinkle your nose, and practically run in the other direction when you catch a whiff? A horrible taste, that we all have experienced one time or another. Come on you know what I am talking about. It’s the only taste that will send you sprinting to the bathroom with a toothbrush and mouth wash. Face it when it comes to taste it doesn’t get much worse than morning breath.
There’s no way to avoid its terrible sour taste. It spreads through your mouth on your tongue, leaving you with a disgusting film inside your mouth. What is it that makes morning breath as terrible as it is? I think it’s the fact that morning breath is just breeding bacteria inside your mouth. According to BreezeCare a company that creates products to get rid of and treat bad breath and morning breath, “Morning Breath” is caused by an accumulation of Volatile Sulphur compounds made by certain anaerobic bacteria whilst you slept. In other words, your mouth does some disgusting stuff while we dream at night. If you’ve ever noticed, the worst possible morning breath comes after a long night of partying, or if you don’t brush after you get the late night munchies. The vulgar taste, sticks inside your mouth and gives you an unpleasant jolt first thing in the morning, is from the bacteria feeding on your leftover food or drink from the night before. According to Bill Nye (the science guy), sleep isn’t the only cause of “morning breath” the same effect happens after we eat an onion. Because of the amount of sulfur inside the onion after only a few minutes, the bacteria start feeding on the “leftovers”. I guess in a way onion breath is kind of a cousin to morning breath. The whole horrible morning breath process happens while we sleep because our saliva is not flowing as much as usual or maybe even stops. That’s why morning breath seems so dry as well as terrible. The unpleasant smell comes from the bacteria, basically rotting away our food remains. If you have a cold, and more mucus builds up then usual your morning breath will be significantly worse. But morning breath goes away after a simple brushing or after breakfast when you begin to form saliva in your mouth again. So that terrible taste, that causes spouses all over to turn their backs on each other in the middle of the night. That seems to force your tongue into hiding, and leave you racing for a toothbrush in the morning. Really are just your own bacteria, feeding on what you left inside your mouth from the night before. So next time you cringe at your own sour filled, mouth. Remember morning breath really is the worst taste of all tastes.
